HOWELL, NJ Publisher Neal Levin, of Dark Quest Books and award-winning author Danielle Ackley-McPhail are proud to present The Halfling’s Court: A Bad-A** Faerie Tale, a novel of myth and magic set against the backdrop of a biker bar. The novel is an expansion of the stories “At the Crossroads” and “Within the Guardian Bell” which originally appeared in the award-winning Bad-A** Faeries anthologies.
The Halfling’s Court and the Bad-A** Faeries series came out of a desire to take faerie mythology back to its darker roots, when all was not goodness and light, but more mischief and mayhem. These faeries more closely resemble those of the ancient legends still passed down today in many parts of the world that haven’t lost touch with magic.
"This was a very interesting take on faeries as you don’t often hear of faeries being Harley riding, macho guys,” says Becky Gard, a reviewer for the internet review site www.bittenbybooks.com. “I really liked that aspect of the story and the ending wasn’t quite what you expected, but in a good way."
A special advance release is to take place on November 21at Philcon, a science fiction convention in Cherry Hill, NJ, www.philcon.org, with the official launch scheduled for January 19 at Arisia, a major science fiction convention in Boston, MA, www.arisia.org.
Ackley-McPhail is the author of two other mythology-based novels, Yesterday’s Dream and Tomorrow’s Memories, and is the editor of numerous anthologies, including Bad-A** Faeries 1 and 2, No Longer Dreams, and the upcoming Dragon’s Lure, which will also be published by Dark Quest Books.
