Echoing the popular ‘Flicker’ necklace design, the first designer necklace is a disc engraved with ‘XY’ and when spun reveals ‘XX’ which represents both the male and the female chromosomes. The second design represents the jean rivet of the charity’s logo, with a gold disc set with a small Tanzanite stone. Both necklace designs are available in 9k yellow or white gold.
The fashion necklaces are available exclusively at Kabiri, online and in all 3 jewellery stores in London. A donation of £10 from each sale of the necklaces will be donated to Jeans For Genes.
Jeans for Genes is a one-day fundraising event which invites millions of people to wear jeans for the Day and to make a donation (£2 from adults, £1 from children). A modern reworking of a friendship bracelet, which began as a present to a best friend, Allumer (French for 'to light up'), consists of small designer charms including a torch, heart and flame that are strung on coloured cord or ribbon.

The interactive charm has an ambiguous but captivating message when the disc is spun. The jewellery designer behind the collection, Natasha Leith-Smith, is a trained graphic designer from Sussex.
