The event's highlight is a talk entitled Soil, Soul and Society by Satish Kumar, founder and Director of the Schumacher College's training programmes and Editor of Resurgence magazine.
Barcelona - The Conference, which is to be opened by the Director of the Campus for Peace, Eduard Vinyamata, starts with a presentation of the courses offered by the UOC in this area by Alfons Vinyals, Coordinator of the UOC Campus for Peace EcoUniversity. Pep Vila, therapist and specialist in chemistry, will then offer a talk on natural therapies, nutrition and dietetics.
At 11.15am, there will be a talk from Joan Melé, Regional Director of Triodos Bank for Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, which is to focus on ecological economy. Then, at noon, there will be a presentation of the Gaia Education Sustainable Community Design course from José Luis Escorihuela, Ulises, coordinator of the course (recognised by the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development)
There will then be a talk entitled Saving Ourselves and the Planet involving Jordi Planas, coordinator of the Worldwide Latin American Agenda’s popular education campaign. At 12.45pm, there is to be a talk from Katherine Raleigh, TNS representative in Barcelona, and Jessica Duncan will present the Food Systems, Culture and Society postgraduate programme.
In the afternoon, there will be a session with include Claudio Lauria, founder and Chair of the International Environmental Film Festival, and the keynote address Soil, Soul and Society from Satish Kumar, which is scheduled for 5pm. There will then be a talk entitled Towards a Culture of Sustainability:
