OXNARD, CA – The Gene Haas Foundation has presented the Rain Project Transitional Living Center with two grants totaling $60,000. The grants presented to the Rain Project between 2006 and 2008 were used to provide transitional housing to families in Ventura County to help them become independent.

“The Rain Project does more than just offer beds to the homeless – they are committed to helping people regain hope, strength, and self-sufficiency. These grants will ensure that the Rain Project Transitional Living Center can continue to fight these issues, and help those in our community who need it the most,” said officials of the Gene Haas Foundation (http://www.ghaasfoundation.org/).

The Rain Project Transitional Living Center in Camarillo, Ventura County, provides housing and support for families and individuals without a steady home. Offering 22 rooms in total, the estimated 1,000 members of this important organization focus on creating a nurturing home that strengthens the family as a whole, while restoring dignity, confidence, and hope to those in society who need it the most. As a result, they can work towards eliminating the violence, addiction, and other elements that caused the homelessness initially. For Mr. Haas and the Gene Haas Foundation, this vital component has long-term effects on the individual, family, and community as a whole.

The Gene Haas Foundation supports a number of other organizations with long-term goals, as well. These include educational organizations, as well as those focused on children, feeding the hungry, promoting technology and engineering careers, and emergency/disaster relief. In all, the Foundation has given more than $8.5 million dollars to over 800 separate non-profit groups since it started giving in 2001.
