COLOMBO DOCKYARD WINNING THE GOLD AWARD
Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC), countries champion ship repair and ship builder bags the prestigious overall Gold Award for Most Outstanding Exporter for the year 2008, for the second successive year, awarded by the National Chamber of Exporters, Sri Lanka. The grand award was received by Mr M.F.M. Najab (General Manager - Administration & Corporate Affairs) and Mr Prasantha Perera (General Manager - Production).
Dockyard also won 3 other Gold awards for sector performance, namely:
• Most Outstanding Exporter - Gold Award in the Export of Business & Professional Services Sector: the award was received by Mr Kithsiri Nayakarathna - (General Manager -Commercial)
• Export of Business & Professional Services – Extra large Category - Gold Award : award was received by Mr D.V. Abeysinghe (General Manager - Projects & Engineering)
• Most Value Added Exporter- Gold Award –award was received by Mr Manil Silva (General Manager - Logistics)
The grand award ceremony was held on the 25th of September 2009 at the Hilton Colombo.
As one of Sri Lanka’s largest foreign exchange earners, Dockyard achieves a local value addition close to six billion rupees with an export portfolio of over 90% of its total revenue.
Colombo Dockyard PLC celebrates its 35th anniversary since it’s inception in 1974, has been recognised as a full service ship repair and shipbuilding centre globally.
Yard is fully geared with three repair docks up to 125,000 DWT capacities and the newly converted building dock (107 meter x 19 meters) and shipbuilding slip way and workshop area all cumulating to over 100,000 m2 within the port of Colombo. Dockyard is endowed with skilled and disciplined work force totalling to over 3,000.
This internationally reputed operation has been accredited with ISO 9001:2000 certification for her core activities of Ship repairs, ship building and Heavy / Offshore Engineering.
