Russia’s provinces still hold untapped potential for hotel development. For developers and international operators, the race for the regions is on… Or, is it? The topic of this moderated discussion will be: “Going to the regions. Is there a ground for investment?”
In recent years, Russia’s economy has been booming and this has encouraged the inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the country. A growing number of business travelers were recorded in Russia’s major markets, followed by western-style hotel development and general infrastructure improvements to accommodate the growing numbers of travelers. With Moscow and St. Petersburg being relatively well supplied in the upscale and luxury segment, investors turn to the regions to expand their networks. At the same time, the international operators are keen to enter the ‘millioniki’
Also, we’d like to try to figure out, are the investors ready for and committed to the Russian Regions? Can the case be made for putting the money into building hotels outside of Moscow and St.-Pete’s?
Let’s put our minds together and explore this realm of unknowns in the HIT Club session at the RHIC.
The panel discussion will take place in Billiard meeting Room at the Grand Hotel Europe, St. Petersburg on the 25th of October 2009 from 16.30 to 18.30.
