The American Ceramic Society-Design Chapter hosts a Clay Festival on November 13-15, 2009 at the Los Angeles County Arboretum’s Ayres Hall, 3001 N. Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia. Open to the general public, the festival begins with a reception on Friday from 6 – 9 p.m. Hours on Saturday will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday, the festival is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The festival awards will be juried by nationally known ceramicists Ricky Maldonado and Karin Swildens. The festival features unique, hand crafted clay works by artists throughout Southern California. Part of the proceeds from sales at the festival will support the Los Angeles Arboretum and Garden and the ACS-DC scholarship fund for college student members pursuing clay craft or careers.
Entry to the Clay Festival at Ayres Hall is free. The LA Arboretum gate fees are $8 per adult, $6 for seniors or students, $3 for children from ages of 5-12; children under the age of 5 are free. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is free.
