The historic Thayer Hotel at West Point will host a special Wine Dinner on Saturday, November 6, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Main Dining Room.
It all begins with a wine and cheese reception, followed by a delicious four-course dinner, featuring a variety of Chilean wines to be paired with each course. Start out with an appetizer of smoked duck and potato tart with walnut chutney, then enjoy a fresh crisp salad of mixed greens with goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes and citrus vinaigrette.
Dine on a delectable entrée of roast rack of veal with lingonberry sauce, fingerling potatoes and haricot vert. Crepes filled with double chocolate sauce and truffles complete the meal. Dinner is $100 per person, or enjoy an overnight stay with breakfast for a total of $339 per couple. Built in 1926, the Thayer Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the only full-service hotel on the Hudson River from the George Washington Bridge to Albany, New York. Originally constructed to accommodate U.S. Military Academy personnel and their guests, the Thayer Hotel was a successor of the original West Point Hotel. The Hotel is named for Colonel Sylvanus Thayer, Superintendent of the Academy from 1817 to 1833.
