The Pearson Prize was founded by Montreal educator and writer Michael Ernest Sweet (a 2009 Prime Minister's Award Laureate) as a way of populating his high school classroom with books. It's worked! The Pearson Prize now attracts hundreds of titles annually.
All self-published and small press authors and publishers are invited to send two copies of any title appropriate for a teen audience (no extreme profanity or sexual content) to the Pearson Prize for consideration. There are no entry fees but all books do become property of the Pearson Prize Organization.
Winners will be chosen based on students ratings of the book and the winner will be announced June 1, 2010. Winners and runners--up receive certificates and publicity. Additionally, book award stickers are made available to the winner and both runners-up.
