On September 29th, 2009, Atlantic Housing Foundation help a dinner at Johnny Carino’s in Sam Marcos, Texas, recognizing five students. Atlantic Housing Foundation is proud to provide these five students scholarships. These students, left to right are Cris Bargo, Salina Affram, Candice Roberson, Amanda McFarland and Malin Thomas. They have receive a housing scholarship to live at The Westfield Apartments in San Marcos, Texas.
Also present were the members of the Scholarship Selection Board: Ron Stephenson, Ph.D., Stacey DeMatos, Pastor Ron Naquin, Camille Stephenson and Tim Shupp of Atlantic Housing Foundation. This Board screens all candidates and approves each candidate. Texas State University was also represented by Gloria Candelaria, Assistant Director of Scholarships at Texas State University and two of her assistants.
In order to maintain this scholarship, each student must be a full time student, maintain a satisfactory GPA, and complete 4 hours per week of volunteer community service.
Since 2005, AHF has awarded 93 academic and housing scholarships, providing over $6,115,000 in social programs.
