Regulator sets the standard by enhancing safety and security with Q-Pulse

Q-Pulse will allow the GCAA to bridge the gap between regulator and regulated. By providing aviation organisations with direct, access to the GCAA safety and security reporting system, findings can be captured and tracked.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Oct 14, 2009 – A compliance management solution is set to make significant contributions to aviation safety and quality in the Middle East, as part of a unique approach to safety and security oversight at the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates (GCAA).

Within the UAE, the GCAA regulates Civil Aviation and delivers designated aviation services with respect to safety and security to strengthen the aviation industry.

With the recent restructuring of the GCAA’s Aviation Security and Safety Department into two separate divisions, the GCAA sought a solution that would help contribute to the improvement of aviation safety and security throughout the region, and chose Q-Pulse from Scottish software developers Gael Ltd.

In a world first for aviation, GCAA will bridge the gap between regulator and regulated. By providing airlines, airports, MROs and other regulated organisations with direct, real-time access to the GCAA safety and security reporting system, incident and audit findings can be captured and tracked through to conclusion.

Q-Pulse will also serve to enhance communication between both safety and security divisions, enabling the Authority to provide an integrated environment offering safety and security and to meet their commitment to provide the highest standards in aviation safety and security.

GCAA Director General Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi explains: ‘As the first regulator in the world to adopt this approach, the GCAA has taken a truly proactive stance in maintaining and improving safety and security oversight. Other regulators shall surely be regarding such an innovative approach with a mixture of envy and admiration.

‘As well as being an innovative project with a truly unique approach, it is extremely encouraging to see technology being applied in such an innovative way, within an industry in which it is imperative both to take full advantage of the advances that are occurring around us, and to keep pace with the continuing expansion in the region’s aviation sector.’

Donald Maciver, Managing Director at Gael Ltd said: ‘This project is poised to bridge the gap between the regulated and the regulator that has been such a source of frustration within the aviation industry worldwide. Gael is an experienced provider of aviation safety solutions, and Q-Pulse is without doubt the solution of choice within the aviation community.

‘With more than 200 aviation clients across the globe, this announcement also further strengthens our long-standing relationship with key organisations in the UAE, which include Emirates since 1999, Presidential Flight and FlyDubai, in addition to organisations in the wider region such as Royal Jordanian, Kuwait Airlines and Gulf Air.’
