Grand Rapids, MI - Cascade Hospital for Animals wants to help some of our canine companions. We are working with Animal Blood Resources International in hosting our first annual canine blood drive on Saturday November 14, from 10AM - 5PM.
We are looking for dogs that are:
- Healthy and friendly
- 50lbs or over
- Between 1 - 6 years old
- Parasite free
- Current on vaccines
- Not taking these medications:
Thyroid, Phenobarbitol, NSAIDS (Rimadyl, Aspirin), Chronic Antibiotics (greater
than six weeks a year), Steroid Therapy (greater than six weeks a year), Allergy
Injections
- No heart murmur
Blood donation is a simple procedure. It does not require anesthesia or sedation. Donating blood takes less than 30 minutes. If your pet is accepted as a donor, you will receive approximately $235 worth of blood work performed free of charge. A member of Cascade Hospital for Animals will contact you three to four weeks later with the blood results.
If you are interested, and your dog fulfills the criteria listed above, please contact us to set up an appointment for the day of our blood drive. Our goal is 50 dogs signed up to be donors. You and your dog can help make a positive impact on the health of our canine community.
