The Charleston Animal Society provides food, shelter and medical care to more than 12,000 homeless animals each year. Last year we were able to place 5,540 of our animal friends in a new home or reunite them with their owner. We spayed and neutered over 6,000 animals and provide rescue efforts for animals suffering from cruelty situations. We also have a full time Humane Educator who provides humane education to 2,800 students in area classrooms each year. Through these programs we teach children empathy and compassion for animals and people. We never turn an animal away are the oldest shelter in the lowcountry serving Charleston for 130 years. We manage the largest full service animal shelter in Charleston, providing care for homeless animals. We find homes for 300-500 animals per month and provide shelter to hundreds more. We also operate two state of the art high quality low cost spay/neuter clinics.
