Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law Sunday a bill that would require installing an ignition interlock device on every vehicle owned or operated by a first-time DUI offender in four California counties: Alameda, Los Angeles, Sacramento and Tulare.

“Approximately, every year 16,000 people are killed in alcohol related crashes and every other minute a person is seriously injured,” says Nima Parto, vice president of sales & marketing for Advanced Safety Devices. “We are pleased to find that Gov Schwarzenegger is giving this bill the chance to show that preventing DUIs is good for drivers, good for bystanders, and good for the state. With this bill passed into law, intoxicated drivers should know that getting behind the wheel irresponsibly risks harsher penalties than any other time in recent California history. We want people to take DUI prevention seriously and to know their limit before getting behind the wheel. ”

In 2009 breathalyzer manufacturer Advanced Safety Devices, LLC of Chatsworth, CA introduced the new AlcoMate line of ultra-accurate breathalyzers featuring an advanced modular sensor technology.

The AlcoMate Premium and AlcoMate Prestige models featuring PRISM technology delivers law enforcement grade testing to individuals for a fraction of the price.
One of the main problems with using breathalyzers in critical applications is that the alcohol sensor, no matter what type, requires periodic re-calibration. Unfortunately, the re-calibration process requires mailing the breathalyzer or taken to a professional service center, at which point the device must be evaluated and proper steps taken for calibration with an expensive breath simulator system. The process is costly for consumers and service centers with the delays in processing and shipping back-and-forth can be quite a loss.

The Pre-Calibrated Replaceable Alcohol Sensor Module can eliminate the delays and complications of re-calibration by allowing users to simply "snap out" an old module and "snap in" a new module. This way, you can get back to reliable, accurate testing in a matter of seconds.

Other notable features include:
• DOT/NHTSA Approval
• Premium model features large 4-Digit Decimal Display (0.000%)
• Active Pressure Sensor
• Deep-Lung Air Sampling
• Cumulative Test Counter
• Audible Alerts / Low Battery Indicator
• Auto Power Off
• Disposable Mouthpieces
• Self-Diagnostic with Error messages
