GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The community of Gainesville was devastated recently after a horrifying motorcycle accident left Ron Hertell – passionate family man and community member – incapacitated and seriously injured. Hertell’
Mike Gavidia, a friend to Hertell and franchise owner of the Gainesville ColorTyme, said that “Ron is the kind of man who helps other people. He puts people first, before himself. He’s also a great family man – husband and father of two teenage boys. Without the ability to work, his family will have extreme difficulties with everyday expenditures. As a result of his injuries, he’s unable to care for his family and himself.”
To help, Gavidia and his team at ColorTyme have organized a donation station. Customers, members of the community and others can donate to the Hertell family by visiting the ColorTyme at 1150 NW 76th Blvd. in Gainesville or by calling 352-333-3199. The store will accept all donations, from monetary gifts to food.
“We’re trying to help out the family,” said Gavidia. “We encourage everybody to contribute. Ron will eventually be on disability, which can take weeks to go through. In the meantime, his wife and kids need to eat and live. We need to help this family. Ron was one of our first customers and he’s a loyal friend.”
Hertell is currently at the Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Gavidia believes that he will soon be moved to a local rehabilitation center.
