During pregnancy, this area gets stretched out from our growing uterus, as well as our everyday movements. Such a neglected area of the body, and apparently one that we are damaging by doing the very thing we would think might help strengthen it. Yes, I am talking about crunches

Diastasis recti is a separation of the most superficial layer of the abdominals, the "six pack" abs. We all want to improve our midsection, but according to Julie Tupler, we are hurting our tummy if we do any kind of crunches, even pilates. She does mention that if pilates is modified according to her principles then it can be very effective to repair the separation.

To help repair all the separated abdominal muscles in Windsor Terrace Brooklyn, Beth Kruger will teach a series of mommy and me classes at Yoga Sole.  The four week  series will start on the 21st of October and end before Thanksgiving.  It will be held on Wednesdays at 1PM for an hour and a half.

Beth began her study of yoga in 2000, upon moving from Vermont to New York City. She completed her 500 hour certification with ISHTA yoga in 2004. She completed a prenatal training with NYC’s Prenatal Yoga Center, in 2008. She has also studied with Master Iyengar teacher Glenn Black, and Master Ashtanga teacher David Swenson.

Beth began teaching prenatal yoga in 2005 while pregnant with her first child. Her first daughter came along with her to teach Mommy and Me classes shortly after her birth.
Welcoming two children into her life has truly been her greatest teacher.

Beth is passionate about natural childbirth, and breastfeeding—and offers this to her students as they discover what works for their lives. She encourages her students to infuse their own practice and lives with acceptance, compassion, and patience.

Beth is now studying to become a certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator. She will complete her course work and sit for the exam in 2010
