South Burlington, VT – The unique Vermont boutique, Candles & Creations is turning 2 and will be celebrating with an all day event on Saturday, October 24th from 9-7. The store, with a mission to be the community nexus for art, philanthropy and wellness, is kicking off their event with a food drive for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. The owners, Casey Webster and Heather Paine have prepared free gifts for the first 50 people who bring a non-perishable food item for donation. “It’
s just a part of what we do,” says Paine; “it’s our way of saying “thank you” to the community for the kind embrace we’ve been given” adds Webster. The two hope to fill their delivery van full of food to bring to the food shelf. In addition to the gifts for the first 50 customers who bring in a non-perishable food item, there will also be free entertainment, sales, readings, book signings with local author Elvia Atherton of Shelburne signing her book One Step Closer a bridge from grief to healing from 10am to noon, and Wendy Stofan Halley of Northfield will be singing her book Slaying the Mouse: a true story of healing in the spirit realms from 1-3. There will also be refreshments, face painting, music, a community art project and more! Candles and Creations is located at 150 Dorset Street in The Blue Mall of South Burlington.
