Video Game Marathon to Raise Money for Child's Play Charity

Starting Friday, November 27, gamers from Raleigh, NC will host a 1,000 song internet marathon from the "Rock Band" video game series to benefit Child's Play, a charity which donates toys, games, and books to children's hospitals worldwide.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Nov 05, 2009 – The video game marathon, which will broadcast live via Ustream on www.clanofthegraywolf.com starting at 9 A.M. on Friday, November 27, will feature six people playing through 1,000 consecutive songs from the "Rock Band" series of video games, which include hundreds of popular music tracks.  With three people playing the game at all times (on guitar, drums, and vocals) and a fourth running a live online chat, the participants estimate that it will take more than three days to complete our goal.

"After seeing the success of other game marathons online, we felt we could do something similar to help out,” said Joey DeSena, event co-coordinator.  "And we think that doing something like this would entertain people enough to donate.  We can accomplish much more for the charity together in this way than any of us could do alone."

Event co-coordinator Daniel Cordaro added, "With the way video games are negatively portrayed by popular media, we hope that the marathon will also emphasize the positive contributions gamers make to the community."

Kristin Lindsay, Project Manager for Child's Play (www.childsplaycharity.org) said, "Since 2003, over 100,000 gamers worldwide have banded together through Child’s Play, a community based charity grown and nurtured from the video game culture and industry.  Over 5 million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in children’s hospitals across North America and the world have been collected since our inception.  We're proud to be the charitable voice of the gaming generation, and when gamers give back, it makes a big difference!"

Watch the event live on the internet at www.clanofthegraywolf.com beginning Friday, November 27, 2009 at 9:00 AM EST.  Viewers who wish to support the event are encouraged to donate directly to Child's Play through the event website.  Donations for the event are being accepted from November 6 through December 6.
