I received a "Flu Alert" today with some additional tips and information on dealing with the swine flu (H1N1), this is a follow up to my previous article, "5 tips to deal with Swine Flu."
Normally I don't post articles on Saturday, but I felt this alert was too important to wait on.
PLEASE pass this information along to friends and family who are pregnant or have small children. According to the alert, "...you may not realize that children and pregnant women are more vulnerable to serious complications or even death." Here's what you need to know about flu shot safety and how to spot symptoms – plus, lifesaving steps in case you or your family becomes ill.
Is it swine flu? The three tell-tale symptoms
Why pregnant women are so vulnerable
When to take your child to the doctor
BTW, here what the CDC says:
"If your child is 5 or older and otherwise healthy and develops what appear to be flu symptoms, consult your doctor as needed and make sure your child gets plenty of rest and drinks enough fluids. If your child is under 5, or is any age and has a medical condition like asthma, diabetes, or a neurologic problem and develops symptoms, call your doctor right away or get medical attention. Kids under 5 and kids who have chronic medical conditions may be at higher risk of serious complications from any type of flu, including swine flu.”
