MONTREAL (November 1st, 2009) – The media industry may be experiencing some heavy turbulence, but you wouldn’t know it judging from the mood at the {warehouse} magazine. Fresh off the heels of their most successful issue and a two-part feature on rising political icon Justin Trudeau, the magazine enters its second year with candid interviews showcasing world-renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs and Ron Galella - the original paparazzo.

“It’s a challenge,” admits editor Kevin Wilson, “but at the end of the day, we’re realizing a dream by creating really unique content and offering our readers something they’re keen to engage with. And it feels good to promote important issues and have fun with our readers at the same time.”

Described as a news magazine with a conscience, the {warehouse} fuses popular culture with political and ethical awareness and has developed a growing loyal readership in little more than a year’s time. “That’s been the big surprise,” adds Wilson. “We’ve tapped into a collective nerve and fed people something they were hungry for. The response has been overwhelming; from readers, aspiring contributors or people just looking to get involved with us in any way.”

The magazine’s self-styled “social revolt” aims to “mobilize consciousness and compassion” by merging art, style and urban life with political and ethical awareness, striking a balance between fun living and important issues. “It’s a magazine first and foremost, but we’re also trying to build a community here,” says Wilson. “Something vibrant, accountable, aware.”

the {warehouse} is a primarily online publication with a growing print distribution throughout the Montreal region and plans to expand to other major Canadian cities within two years. Enjoy a peek at www.thewarehousemagazine.com
