Oct. 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Memphis was built by the collaboration of great minds, determination and perseverance, that must be the groundwork utilized for future paths chosen. Some of those collaborative efforts include the involvement from local businesses that have remained pillars of the Memphis and Shelby County community. Since 1939, Memphis Light Gas and Water has continuously shown commitment to its customers and the services provided. This commitment is highly visible through the various community and utility assistance programs. From the Plus-1 Program, CSA Partnership, Senior Citizen Assistance Programs to the Conservation Initiatives, Weekend Academy for positive exposure for Memphis City School students, and the numerous neighborhood events and programs developed to provide valuable information to better serve the citizens of Memphis; MLGW definitely leads by example in community involvement and support.

MLGW exhibits this support by becoming the sponsor of the Memphis 2010 Historical Calendar. Published by the ALW Calendar Company, the Memphis 2010 Historical Calendar presents 365 days of historical facts about the people, places, and events of Memphis and Shelby County. There is no other medium on the market that provides 150+ years of diverse historical facts, 12 biographies of pioneer citizens, and introductions from some of Memphis’ most prominent residents. Researched by the late genealogist, historian, and journalist Arthur L Webb and his team of staff, each date has been carefully verified and organized into this collector’s item. The calendar also highlights MLGW’s history in Memphis and resourceful tips on conservation and community outreach.
Some facts about MLGW you may not have known:
