The author issues a challenge to all Christians to look more closely at their faith in order to establish the truth as left by Christ. The point of the book is first and foremost to establish that the Roman Catholic Church is the one true Church from Biblical sources, but it also points out that the Catholic Church is leaking hundreds of thousands of members every year to evangelical and fundamentalist campaigns, simply because Catholics, in general are not aware of the Scriptural roots of their faith. Rock Steady also contends that the non-Catholic doctrine of sola scriptura are nowhere to be found in The Bibe because the formatoin of Scripture would, in essence, require an established Church. In other words the Church existed before The Bible.
O'Neill commented. "There are two things Catholics don't do well. Sing and evangelise. I can't do much about the singing, but every Catholic should be able to defend their faith on any terms. The problem is that they don't know enough about The Bible and are easily swayed by slick evangelicals. Rock Steady is intended to encourage deeper Scriptural devotion in Catholics, and to challenge non-Catholics to examine not only the true teachings of the Catholic Church, but also their own beliefs in the light of Scripture."
