WILMINGTON, Del. — tbmin Beverages, a Mexico City-based manufacturer of environmentally friendly glass wine bottles, has sold its two tequila brands to U.S.-based beverage company Yummy Beverages, LLC.
The brands involved in the sale are El Borrachito and Bling Bling. tbmin is shedding the nonstrategic assets in order to focus on marketing its proprietary glass bottles, which are manufactured through a green process with reduced emissions and minimal impact on the environment. In addition, tbmin Beverages’ bottles are produced using completely recycled raw materials, and are packaged in 100 percent recycled cartons.
“With this sale, we are looking to capitalize on our business venture in the United States — namely our eco-friendly glass bottles — as well as expand our investment in research and development efforts for our environmentally safe products,” said Guillermo Viruega, vice-president of Business Development for tbmin Beverages. “We believe Yummy will do a great job with these brands and expand into the North American market.
tbmin Beverages began producing El Borrachito in 2008 and sales have grown 30 percent since last year. Bling Bling is a more recent brand creation.
The terms of the sale and the price were not disclosed. Newberry Global, LLC, a boutique U.S. investment bank based in Wilmington, Del., acted as the exclusive financial advisor for tbmin Beverages.
Yummy Beverages is based in Myrtle Beach, SC.
tbmin Beverages, a privately held global manufacturer of eco-friendly glass bottles, is based in Mexico City and has a presence in five countries. The company currently offers four varieties of wine bottles, and its packaging design center creates custom packaging to meet any clients’ needs and objectives.
