“Has America decided that it is simply too much effort to care? What happened to people rising up in the streets angry at unfair taxation? Okay quick, what are your Constitutional Rights? Anyone… anyone… does anyone even know what they are, besides your 5th grade daughter who is studying it in school. I am horrified that the Federal Government is dictating who we can hire to get us of debt, how is that THEIR decision?” asks Tami Brown, President of TurnKey Consulting, Inc.
Quick refresher, The Bill of Rights, which is part of the Constitution, was designed to prohibit the federal government from depriving any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.
The word liberty is defined by wiki as “a concept of political philosophy and identifies the condition in which an individual has the right to act according to his or her own will.” and as “freedom to act and liberty as the absence of coercion”.
This is important; the government is trying to tell you who THEY think you should hire to help you pay off your debt. First of all, look at their results? Should they be giving financial advice to anyone? Secondly, my “liberty rights” clearly state that I should be able to choose, WITHOUT COERCION from Federal and State intervention. “Without coercion”, means that we should freely choose which service best fits our needs without being forced to chose ONE or the OTHER by our own government.
If I want to hire a bankruptcy attorney, I should be able to right? What about a consumer credit counseling service? They can help lower my interest rates and help me pay my bills with one easy monthly payment, sounds fair. Even if I want to hire a Debt Settlement company, where I pay a fee for service and they settle my debt for around 50%, it’s my liberty right to choose, according to the Constitution at least.
Here is the kicker, while we were racking up debt; lawmakers are passing laws to ensure you do not have the right to chose how to resolve your debt when in a financial hardship. They will either allow it in their state, or not, depending on which lawmakers like Consumer Credit and which lawmakers even know how Debt Settlement Services differ from the traditional types of programs.
So, while we were all at the most recent big box store opening, your right to choose is being taken away one state at a time. In these interesting economic times when big companies are looking to the government to bail them out, you may not have any choices to bail yourself out based on what state you live in. If you live in a state where CCCS is not available, or Settlement is not an option, you would be FORCED TO FILE bankruptcy which violates your Liberty Rights! It’s kinda crazy since your cousin in Oklahoma gets to choose from three services simply because she won the lottery and lives in a state that believes their consumers have a right to choose.
If you believe your rights are being violated, voice your opinion! Contact the FTC at www.ftc.gov and let them know that you want your fair opportunity to make your own CHOICES. Let them know you want your constitutional rights as our founding fathers wanted for us. Contact your State Attorney General – if you do not know how to do this go to http://ash.org/
