What is a marriage worth? Which comes first, a couple's individual happiness or their marriage? Is their happiness dependent on their marriage or vice versa? Were Adam and Eve a truly happily married couple?

Baneo Theatre in collaboration with The National Charitable Fund will present the United States premiere of the hit musical stage play, PRIVATE LIES, a thought provoking stage play on Love and Marriage, written by Tyrone Terrence, directed by Abraham Yo’el (A Husband’s Wife, Who’s Afraid of Wole Soyinka, What The Steward Saw) and starring Douglas D Hampton, Sonji King, Tierica Berry, NaJuan Davis, and Jakoyah Clarke.
PRIVATE LIES will premiere as a one day limited engagement on Sunday, October 25th, at 183 Room @ Legends, 181 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd., Atlanta, Georgia. There will be two showings at 4:30pm and 7:30pm.
   
PRIVATE LIES is a musical stage play that critically takes an intricate and in-depth look into the marriage institution and how individuals react when confronted with circumstances that might ruin their marriage. PRIVATE LIES follows the ingenious twists and eventful turns of the life of Jeffery, who after coming back from fighting off a terminal disease, meets, falls in love and marries a beautiful young woman, Barbara. Two years later, there has been a remarkable foray into the unknown territory of jealousy, marital infidelity, revenge and betrayal that has threatened the very existence of their marriage. Will their marriage survive? Does love suffice to overcome lies and deception? With the help of their friends, Sam and Rose, they seek ways to overcome the circumstances that has led to their present situation.

This is a highly compassionate and awfully hilarious, yet explosive musical stage play that will leave its audience talking for weeks. This is a must see!!!

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM
Tyrone Terrence (Playwright) was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He later relocated to Nigeria, where he attended the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka. He currently lives in Abuja, where he runs The Basement Theatre Company. Terrence has written over 20 plays, including A Husband’s Wife, The Devil is a Woman, God is an Orphan, A Pound of Flesh, Adam's First Wife, and Ambushment. His subject matter is often centered on the trials and tribulations of married couples, and his plays are notable for their wit and emotional incisiveness.

Abraham Yo’el (Director) is a sought after director and producer. Over the last nine years, he has directed and produced over six stage plays in collaboration with the playwright, Tyrone Terrence. His works include Amanda, Who’s Afraid of Wole Soyinka, A New Song, A Husband’s Wife, A Pound of Flesh, A Little Sin, What the Steward Saw and At the Sea Side. His works have seen him travel to South Africa, London and Amsterdam.
