In North Carolina, there is a vast amount of wildlife that seeks out shelter during the fall of the year in search of a comfortable place to raise their young. Daniel Glover the owner of Trapper Dan’s Wildlife & Pest said that during this time of year the calls triple due to the amount of squirrels entering attics and structures.
In order to combat these situations Mr. Glover recommends the following actions be taken in order to reduce entry and damage to structures. When the homeowner hears a noise in their attic they should take action and investigate the noise. This way you will be able to see what is causing the noise. Here are a few tips for the homeowner to follow when inspecting their property for.
1.Walk around your structure and look for any entry holes around dormers, corners, and areas where rooflines meet.
2. Inspect attic and look for torn insulation.
3. Attic may have smell that is not normal.
4. Some insulation may be bundled in corners or between rafters.
After you have completed your on inspection and have determined that there is activity in your structure you should act in a prompt manner in order to reduce further damage. Trapping wildlife is no easy task and just buying a trap and setting it out with bait will usually not work. It takes experience and expertise in order to have a successful outcome.
