Cara Moeller is opening Calgary’s only dance, yoga and fitness studio that caters to young people and families on the go to help offset the growing health issues related to inactivity and high stress in our City. This new studio, Soul Connexion, is an expansion of her award winning youth focused dance company Beat It Dance, which has been successfully growing since 2002.
According to the Calgary Health Region, there are 50,000 Calgarians with diabetes, a disease that can be prevented and improved by physical activity. The latest statistics show that currently over 60% of Calgarians are not physically active. With this awareness and the success of her existing dance/ fitness company, “Beat It Dance”, Cara decided it was time to do something she had been dreaming about for a long time.
The vision for Soul Connexion developed as Cara became increasingly aware of the desperate need for accessible health & fitness programs in Calgary that were fun and motivating for people of all ages. “I built this studio because I clearly recognize the need for a focused, inspiring and accessible service like this in our city. We help people connect to themselves again through dance, movement and mentorship.”
Soul Connexion offers sponsorship programs to low income children and families who could not otherwise afford a program of this caliber that will inspire them to lead healthy lives from at a young age. Research has shown that lower income families are at a higher risk for developing weight related diseases like Diabetes. “We strongly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience fitness, dance and yoga in a positive environment that inspires growth.” Says Cara, who has been training and coaching sponsored girls with Beat It Dance since it’s inception.
With a goal of raising $25,000 to donate towards the sponsorship of under privileged children this year, Cara and her team are very excited. For every corporate booking received one child is sponsored for this program.

Soul Connexion offers a single location option for busy families interested in being active in all areas. Classes have been designed to appeal to individuals of all ages, skill levels and interests. They include a wide variety of dance styles, yoga, pilates, and aerobic programs. Soul Connexion also offers corporate team building workshops, personal training, nutritional consulting, and personal goal coaching. The Studio itself has 25 highly trained professional dance, yoga and fitness instructors, and offers a variety of 85 classes to the public every week. Cara Moeller (Poppitt) B.Com, B.A. is the founder of Soul Connexion, the latest brain, or “soul” child from the already successful entrepreneur. Cara was the recipient of Western Canada’s Student Entrepreneur of the year, Calgary Inc.’s Rookie of the year, short-listed as University of Calgary’s Entrepreneur of the Decade for the past two years, and most recently received the honor of Calgary’s Woman of Vision Award. Cara has trained in Los Angeles, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Spain, Cuba, Africa, New York, Canada, South America and her home city of Calgary.
