The MacBook Air features a Core 2 Duo chip in new, specially designed package complete with a smaller than normal motherboard that helps to reduce its thickness. The LCD screen is backlit with LEDs (light emitting diodes), which saves battery, and allows the screen to be dimmed much lower than CCFL screens creating over 5 hours of battery life. This new LED monitor technology is a true revolution in display design.
It is Wireless N/B/G capable, with Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, and is available in two basic configurations:
For almost double the price at $3098, you can get a 1.8GHz chip with the same 2GB of RAM and a 64GB solid state drive module that, like all SSD, is extremely shock resistant. The solid state drive module is another huge leap forward in data storage technologies.
There is no Ethernet port, but you can use the optional USB to Ethernet jack to connect to the internet if Wireless is not available.
The MacBook Air provides huge advances in battery life as well display and data storage technologies. We are sure the MacBook Air will become known as a very reliable and portable machine. After all, its still an Apple.
You can get an Apple MacBook Air Free! Many distributors are giving away MacBook Airs as part of their promotions.
