Retailers Eliminate ‘OUT OF STOCK’ Headaches With New EPOS System

Full e-commerce service provider, Docnet have built an electronic point of sale (EPOS) solution that will greatly improve levels of customer satisfaction both in-store and online. The Manchester City Centre-based firm is now offering EPOS as part of their full-service business model.

The new EPOS system updates inventory levels in the stockroom, on the shop floor and online in near real-time. This ensures online customers no longer place orders on items recently gone out of stock and that stock is removed from the warehouse / shop floor as soon as an order has been taken online.

Managing Director, Chris Maule commented, “We began developing this system when we first noticed many EPOS systems only update web sites once every 24 hours. This inevitably led to complaints from customers who placed orders online believing the item(s) to be in-stock, when in fact the last one had been purchased by someone else hours before. This mistake was costing retailers time and money through the refund process, as well as potentially costing them customer goodwill.”

Mr. Maule continued, “The new EPOS system is designed to meet the demands of today’s online retail environment. As more shoppers turn to the Internet, retailers need to prepare for the increasing volume of sales with a web site that provides accurate, up to the second information. With increasing choice for consumers, retailers risk losing sales and potentially customers for good if they don’t provide an excellent customer experience.”
