Power to the people! That is the underlying theme to the new song, "Robin Hood, Where Are You Now?" sung by award-winning blues singer/guitarist Phil Gates. Composed by Matt Forger, Gates, and Larry John McNally, the song is a rocking blues tune that is good fun while seriously arguing for economic change in the USA.
"We are all greatly concerned that the economic situation in this country is wildly out of proportion,"
The ideas in the song run in parallel with some of the points in the new Michael Moore film, "Capitalism:
An eight-track "Super Single EP" is available on iTunes, with multiple versions of the tune. Two music videos have been produced. The first, which contains the full vocal version to the composition, was co-directed by Zayde Naquib and The G-Man. The second version, which is more instrumentally oriented to emphasize the dueling guitars of Gates and McNally, was produced and directed by the FookMovie collective. Both versions are on the RobinHoodNow site and YouTube.
Both videos contain footage taken inside two Los Angeles recording studios, Bright Orange Studios and Anisound. In addition to singer/guitarist Gates, each video also features Forger, McNally, drummer Jon Mattox, and the Choir of Semi-Angels.
