FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 07, 2009 -
Washington DC  Today opens the inaugural ThrillSpy International Film Festival at the Naval Heritage Theater in Washington DC’s historic Penn Quarter.  The festival, which runs through Saturday, will open with a red carpet celebration for filmmakers and will feature the Hollywood thriller “State of Play” starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck, as the festival’s opening film.

ThrillSpy will showcase a variety of films that celebrate the exciting thriller and spy genre of films and novels.  Films from this year’s Cannes and Sundance film festivals, international award-winning documentaries, and debuts by local filmmakers will be screened.  Festival organizer Will Gorham exclaims, “The inaugural film festival will bring together new independent filmmakers with fans and content distributors with an intense appreciation for the genre in a four-day thriller extravaganza.”  The festival will also present short film screenings, educational lectures, VIP socials, and book signings.  All events are open to the media.

The festival kicks-off with the Hollywood thriller “State of Play” starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck as a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to “find the truth” about the murder of a congressman's mistress.  ThrillSpy brings back the Friday “date night” with a free screening of the timeless thriller “Fatal Attraction” featuring Glenn Close and Michael Douglass at the Naval Heritage Theater.  The Closing Awards Gala will feature the D.C. premiere of “The Champagne Spy” by Nadav Schirman. Champagne Spy is an international award winning documentary about a true "Bond-like" Cold War Spy currently being developed into a feature film.   Fans will also get a sneak preview of the new thriller “Adrenaline.”

The organizers and sponsors of the premier ThrillSpy International Film Festival, a diverse collection of companies and other organizations dedicated to supporting filmmakers, artists, the community and the thriller/spy genre includes the International Spy Museum, National Museum of Crime and Punishment, B-side, and Prowess Entertainment Group.
