FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND CHILD BOOK CLUB GOES BEYOND BOOKS WITH READY MADE LESSONS, HANDS ON CRAFTS AND TASTY HOME MADE SNACKS THAT BRING STORY TIME TO LIFE.
abc ME READ’s unique book club concept provides parents with ready-made tools that encourage a child’s love of stories and provide a full sensory learning experience.
Indianapolis, Indiana – October 2009: abc ME READ launches the only Child Book Club program designed to give parents and educators of children ages 3-7 a comprehensive kit that turns story time into a multi sensory learning experience. Each Book Club kit includes a book along with ready-made lessons, craft ideas and snack recipes that reinforce the central story and theme. The kits can be purchased to start a neighborhood Book Club business, incorporate into parties, playgroups and classrooms, or simply used as a fun learning tool at home.
The first in abc ME READ’S series of Book Club Kits is the Alphabet Book Club, a delightful and educational journey through each letter of the alphabet. The kit contains 26 different books and dozens of ready-made lessons, crafts and snack ideas that correspond to each book and letter from A to Z. In addition to learning letter shapes and sounds, kids use creative thinking to answer discussion questions, explore book characters and animals, and engage in hands on crafts and snack making. Future Book Club themes include holidays, princesses, pirates, and countries around the world.
abc ME READ’s Book Club Program was originally created by preschool educator and parent, Laura Giovanini, as a way to spend time with her own kids and make extra income during the holidays. As word of the Book Club spread through her community and her home-based events grew,  she realized the value of providing the concept to a wider group of children. By teaming up with abc ME READ, Laura has been able to work with other educators to develop new Book Club themes and make them accessible to children nationwide.
abc ME READ is a family-oriented company that uses a multi-sensory approach to instill in ALL children the building blocks for literacy and a love of reading. Started by a small group of seasoned teachers and multi-sensory reading specialists, abc ME READ’s goal is to give children the exact tools necessary to become strong, life- long readers. The multi-sensory approach is based on the precise and repetitive Orton-Gillingham method and is a great choice for children with dyslexia, reading disabilities and other reading difficulties. In addition to the Book Club program, abc ME READ offers a Letter Program for children ages 3-5 and a Sound Program for children ages 5-9. The Letter Program includes 26 interactive, multi-sensory lessons that focus on recognizing, reading and writing the letters of the alphabet. The Sound Program is based on the Orton-Gillingham method and focuses on reading and producing sounds, as well as decoding, spelling, phonemic awareness and comprehension skills.
