But because this type of fuel is derived from plants, the issue of food versus fuel rose. If plants are used to manufacture this fuel, it would also lead to food shortage or an increase in prices of such plants. This prompted Honda to conduct a process and study of extracting ethanol from inedible stalks of plants so that food production will not suffer. This process is still going on but positive results are showing.
