An aerospace firm in the north west will expand its workforce after securing an £18 million deal with a global defence corporation.
Burnley-based MB Aerospace has secured the multi-million pound deal with Boeing to make torpedo and desk launch technology for the organisation, which will "significantly boost" its current 40-strong team of engineers.
The company explained that the deal would enable the company to work with 100 suppliers and would allow it to expand its operations in the region.
Kitty Ussher, Labour MP for Burnley, claimed that the town's strong manufacturing tradition had enabled MB Aerospace to win the contract.
She told the Burnley Citizen: "This contract will safeguard the jobs of staff at MB Aerospace and will allow the company to expand its Burnley operations, creating more jobs, which is great news for my constituents."
Last week, Burnley council leader Gordon Birtwistle claimed that the opening of an £11 million University of Central Lancashire campus will increase the skills of the town's labour market.
