19th Annual Sherman Oaks Chamber Street Fair

Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce to Host the Valley’s Largest Event on October 18, 2009

Oct. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks will once again ring with the sounds of music and fun as the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Sherman Oaks Hospital, presents the 19th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair on Sunday, October 18. With more than one-half mile of the Boulevard between Van Nuys Blvd. and Kester Avenue transformed into a pedestrian mall, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy two stages of live entertainment, sample food from around the world, participate in games, and browse and purchase products from a wide variety of commercial and arts and crafts vendors.   The Fair runs from 10am to 6pm and admission is free.

If the over 100 vendor booths are not enough of an attraction, this year’s Fair will feature two stages with almost continuous live entertainment throughout the day.  The Main Stage features five diverse musical performances, and The Tami Ginsburg Community Stage will be equally active with song and dance presentations by local groups including: Kicks Martial Arts, Dixie Canyon Elementary, L.A. Hip Kids, Pacoima Middle School Dancers, Charter High School of the Arts (C.H.A.M.P.S.), Millikan Middle School, Pacoima Singers, and The Buckley School Performing Arts Department.

There will be an expanded car show at the west end of the fair, a beer garden with wine tasting, and other attractions including a Kiddie Corral for the little ones.

Over the years, this family-oriented event has raised in excess of $400,000 for local public schools.  Estimates are that some 80,000 people visited the 2008 Street Fair.
