Austin, Texas, USA October 14th 2009 , New Hampshire-based industry leader, CD Recycling Center Of America is sponsoring Melbourne, Florida rock band 'Simone' by providing a free concert at Headhunters Club.

Oct. 5, 2009 - PRLog -- Appearing at the popular Austin nightclub, Headhunters, Wednesday October 14th, the Florida rockers are asking concert-goers to bring at least one compact disc to be recycled. The touring groups' mission is to recycle two-thousand pounds of unused compact disc materials throughout the remainder of the year. "Every $100,000 spent on commercial software reproduction creates the global warming potential of approximately 29 metric tons of carbon dioxide," according to a recent study from researchers at renowned Carnegie-Mellon university. "as well as 38 kilograms of toxic waste."

Since their feature in the August 12th Florida Today Life section, the band has received over 450lbs of unused compact discs to be recycled. "We did some research on (compact discs in landfills) and found out that it is estimated to take over one million years for a CD to decompose," said Simone Star (née Taylor), lead singer of the band who recently started the recycling campaign.

Since June, the band has placed a green recycling bin on stage at concerts and asks fans to fill it with old CDs, CD-ROMS,DVDs and video games they do not use anymore. The band will be hosting a meet and greet at the venue starting at 7:30PM. The concert event begins at 10PM and admission is free to donors.

A Reiki Master active in the healing arts, Simone has released four CDs, received numerous awards, charted on popular music ranking websites and has been touring internationally since formation in 2000. Notable recent performances include: Featured Performer for Rolling Stone Magazine's Annie Leibovitz, Opening Artist: Dishwalla, Opening Artist: B-Liminal, Opening Artist: Sammus Theory and many more. Simone was best known in 2007 for her work with Yellow Umbrella and The Haven, both are organizations dedicated to the prevention of child abuse.

More information may be found on the band's MySpace page http://myspace.com/simonesongs or by calling the venue at 512-236-0188.
