Mackilwean Turf Farm harvests N.C. Centipede for public sale Eastern, N.C.

Oct. 5, 2009 - PRLog -- NEW BERN, N.C.- Mackilwean Turf Farm is currently selling centipede seed with germination rates between 92-97.5%.  The seed is available at retail and wholesale rates, depending on the application.  Paul Barnicle, sales manager says “We sell raw, uncoated seed only.  For every 16 ounces of coated centipede seed, only about 8 ounces is actually seed, this makes our seed a superior value”.   The seed can be shipped anywhere or obtained at Mackilwean Turf Farm, Inc. located at 1004 Washington Post Rd, New Bern, NC  28560.  Harvesting centipede seed is difficult due to the size of the hull.  Gene McIwean,  President of Mackilwean Turf Farm, Inc. custom made his own harvester to collect the seed and is the only Eastern North Carolina farm to offer seed for sale.
