In "Pookoo", a satire by D.L. Shiloh published in 2008, the narrator takes what is a virtual tour of Chicago while telling his story. Maybe it was providence. Maybe because Shiloh once was a proofreader who proofread Fodor's and Frommer's travel books. The former resident of The Windy City is offering fans and travelers alike a unique perspective when they visit Chicago in the summer of 2010. He'll be their guide.
"Food, sights and some fun," Shiloh said. "You can read it in a magazine but we'll be on the tried-and-true path and a few relaxing places out of the way. The good news is that you won't be required to live the life the characters did. We'll leave disaster to fiction."
The tour will include:
Ride the famed "L" subway, Lake Michigan, and Michigan Avenue.
Tourists will also receive an autographed copy of "Pookoo" and have photo op time with Shiloh. Haven't checked out "Pookoo" yet? Get the book for your Kindle or paperback at Amazon.com, or read the book in free e-book form a at http://www.dlshiloh.com.
"You can be a fan of the book or sports, but it's really about coming to Chicago in an informal way," Mike Pace of Homefield Multimedia said.
