Since 1980 Danfranc Productions has produced the annual Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant. Long recognized as the premier state teen pageant in the nation, their is no swimsuit or talent competition. Candidates are judged on Achievements & Activities, Personality, and Poise and Presence in Formal Wear.
Candidates must be 13-19 years of age, born female, single, never married or never a parent. She must also be a resident of the state of California for at least six months prior to the date of the state pageant.
There are no local city pageants to enter Miss Teenage California. Potential candidates submit an Official Application and it is reviewed by the State Pageant Office. Candidates are then selected to represent their city, county, or area at the state pageant.
Many contestants spend a great deal of time and expense entering local pageants and their really is no need to do so, say's Frank Lameira President of Danfranc Productions. Most contestants who compete each year are first time contestants. Every thing they need to learn is taught to them at the rehearsals over the three-day pageant weekend every April.
The state pageant has won numerous awards since it was founded in 1980. Pageant President, Frank Lameira was a 1997 Inductee into the Performing Arts Hall of Fame for his contribution to the arts through education.
Miss Teenage California 2010 will win a $10,000 College Scholarship to the university of her choice, or a $7,000 Cash Prize. Winners choice! She will also win a $1,000 Shooping Spree at the Beverly Center- Beverly Hills, CA, a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Annual Miss Teen of the Nation Pageant, Digital Camera, $500 in gift cards from state merchants, Luggage, and other prizes.
Unlike most state pageants the runners up and top 10 all win college scholarships. The four runners up will win $4,000, $3,000, $2,000, and $1,200 in college scholarships, while the remaining top 10 will each be the recipients of a $1,000 college scholarships. Other scholarships will also be awarded.
