Blink 182 is an American rock band from Poway, California who has an incredible talent for “pop punk” music. In the early 1990’s, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus, two of the original band members, began sharing their passion for music in the garage of Hoppus’ home. It wasn’t long until the two decided that they needed to start a band, so Tom invited friend Scott Raynor to come on board. The three band members became addicted to the music they were playing and called themselves “Duck Tape,” until Tom later decided to change their name to Blink.
Blink 182 went through their break-ups and make-ups until it was finally decided that Travis Barker would replace drummer Scott Raynor. Since the switch in 1998, the band lineup has remained the same; Tom DeLonge on vocals and guitar, Mark Hoppus on vocals and bass and Travis Barker on drums and percussion. Some of the bands most popular hit singles have been “What’s My Age Again,” “All The Small Things,” “First Date,” “Feeling This” and “I Miss you.”
Blink 182 has performed on several popular venues including; The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live. The band has also won many music awards throughout their career such as; the Teen Choice Award for Best Rock Group, the MTV Video Music Award for Best Group Video and the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Band. The band will be touring around the country through 2009 and hope to add a European tour in 2010.
