Do 1 Thing readies for its annual emergency preparedness campaign designed to help Michigan residents better prepare for emergencies and disasters. Through radio, TV, billboards and new online marketing campaigns, people are encouraged to join the website http://www.do1thing.us and receive monthly emergency preparedness suggestions. Do1thing.us provides an easier way for individuals, local organizations, businesses, and community groups become better prepared for emergencies and disasters. This helps build more prepared communities.
Steve Lehman, an area Emergency Management Coordinator said, “Our message is simple, if each of us does just one thing per month, over the course of an entire year, we all are significantly more prepared. The results we see and hear prove it.”
Each month, a Fact Sheet with a new topic is sent to participants. The Fact Sheet provides specific suggestions, recommendations and goals. For example, November’s topic is Emergency Supplies. The Fact Sheet gives tips to help people “do 1 thing” to make sure they have the supplies necessary to be self-sufficient for up to 72 hours.
