Prestige Kicks Off Its Education and Empowerment Series on Wednesday October 7th 2009

PR Log (Press Release) – Oct 02, 2009 – GREEN VALLEY, Arizona – Prestige Assisted Living at Green Valley, a leader in assisted living in Arizona, is proud to host nationally and internationally known writer and teacher, David Troxel, MPH.  David will conclude a 5 week education and empowerment lecture series geared towards informing seniors on a wide array of senior-specific topics ranging from Alzheimer’s Care to legal issues related to growing older.

"Our hope is to provide cutting edge knowledge directed at seniors and their families to help them with the important decisions that they will have to face" said Jackie Stewart, Executive Director at Prestige Assisted Living at Green Valley.  Jackie also went on to say that “It is especially important that anyone who knows someone afflicted with Alzheimer’s to get out and see David’s presentation on Wednesday, November 18th”.  She concluded that “David’s Best Friend’s Approach to Alzheimer’s Care is full of best fit practices to help the caregiver through extraordinary circumstances for greater success and we are proud to host his most helpful presentation for the public for free”.

Jackie Stewart will also be presenting the very first lecture of the series titled “You’re Not Getting Older, You’re Only Getting Better: What To Do When ¬that’s Not True" on Wednesday October 7th.  Her presentation is an interactive discussion which will focus on the signs and symptoms of memory loss and other physical and emotional changes that may occur.  Jackie will present ideas and suggestions for managing these changes.

Wednesday, November 18th  (Starts 6:30 pm) - David Troxel, M.P.H. presents “A Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s Care.” Co-author of “A Dignified Life” and expert on the best practices in Alzheimer’s care, David has vast experience in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease and long-term care. He has published numerous articles relating to Alzheimer’s disease and caregiver training.
