DerbyGirl.com Gets Women on Skates and the Derby Track.

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 2, 2009 - DerbyGirl.com announces the grand opening of its flagship site which aims to get women across the country back on roller skates and playing the resurrected sport of roller derby. Inspired by a grassroots movement in Austin, TX, the sport of women’s flat track roller derby has grown to hundreds of leagues throughout the country. Roller Derby is the fastest growing women’s sport for good reason - it combines femininity, raw speed, athleticism and female companionship like nothing else.

Getting started in the sport encompasses everything from selecting a roller derby name to purchasing a pair of roller derby skates and picking out sassy roller derby clothing.  The DerbyGirl.com site was designed to assist new players with assembling the skates, protective equipment and clothing they need to play. Additionally, the site offers information on basic roller derby training and rules of the game so players can quickly build their game knowledge and basic skill level.

DerbyGirl.com owner, Courtney Oldham, who is known as Kiss My Blitz on the track, created the site after seeing the positive impact of the sport. “I’m so fortunate to live in Austin where we have an established league and experienced players that generously give their time and talent so other woman can experience the thrill, speed and camaraderie of the sport. I want to help as many women as I can get started playing derby.”
