Palo Alto, California, September 25, 2009 — jTask today announced the launch of its jOCDE (Online Course Development Editor) -- a web-based tool to capture and manage the important components in producing course materials. The tool is based on the ADDIE model of training development and supports the tasks required in all phases from analysis through to evaluation.
jTask is offering jOCDE as a standard, free component of their consultant offering to ERP implementation customers, to reduce the cost of end-user training development. “Typically on projects the solution is to add more labor to meet the training development timelines. I believe we can reduce the overall training budget by 20% by providing this easy to use tool. jOCDE was build to back our commitment to automating processes and reusing data so that our customers are provided competitive value without having to compromise on quality,” says Roger Watson, jTask Principal.
jOCDE features:
• Standard analysis and design-phase sign-off reports
• Standard course description format for course development
• Boilerplate content for rapid course development
• Content development status tracking
• Report generator for distribution of training development status to managers and executives
• Customizable data input fields
According to Alan Jones, Senior Manager of Business Transformation at SanDisk, in Milpitas, California, “There is an efficiency opportunity in managing instructional content for end-user consumption. If we had had a tool that could automatically populate changes or updates, or even speed up the initial creation of content, this would have taken a huge burden off the web development effort of putting our course material online. What we need is quicker sign off on analysis, faster development of course description, better consistency within the end product and more accurate tracking of course development milestones. Executives expect real time status on Progress and easy access to what is planned to be taught in class.”
A key benefit of the tool is that it allows project team members to contribute to end-user training and avoid rekeying course development information such as target audience, change impact, or course descriptions. By providing a single source of course description information, teams get quicker analysis, faster development, improved quality and more accurate tracking. Executives are provided real-time status on progress and easy access to what is being taught in class.
jOCDE provides a the central storage location for all descriptive course information. It provides an intuitive interface for creating consistent course information and providing continuity among all courses within a project. Course description information can be exported into commonly used business office software such as Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint.
