The Colombia Capital, Bogota will come alive with emergency and rescue crews from across the globe during a massive 52 hour emergency and disaster scenario taking place on Oct.09th.
Highly trained emergency crews will fly into Bogota, to train, evaluate and create international cooperation strategies in the face of a significant crisis. Teams from The United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Venuzuala and Spain will all take part in this massive municipal and national exercise.
The drill will take place at 62 emergency scenarios in Bogota, starting at 11:00 AM on October 9, and will involve 600 local, national and international rescuers. A group of disaster experts from different international agencies will also be on the scene to perform an independent evaluation.
The large scale simulation aims at assessing the city’s capability to respond to earthquakes of high magnitude.
The program is part of an ongoing international outreach program aimed at advancement of Bogota through social, security and investment forums.
According to Colombian seismological authorities, Bogota is close to the boundaries of three major geological faultlines.
This exercise will include national and internation support teams from the Colombia air force, national army, accion social and many different agencies on a districal and national level.
The international support teams include bilaterial support from Peru, Spain, USA, Brazil, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Panama and Mexico
