Business Ideas Generation will highlight the renewed interest in innovation in the corporate as well as the SME sector, how many of today’s most successful products and businesses were launched in recessionary times, the expanding variety of sources and resources for the generation of new business ideas, and the importance of marrying the right idea to the right business model and the right approach to business planning as the keys to commercial success.
Making it Happen will look at how people bring new innovations to market by creating new firms. It will look at how entrepreneurs build successful new ventures and, in particular, how entrepreneurs find the resources to commercialise their innovation. It will outline who might help you in starting a business.
The key speakers will be Brian Leavy and Colm O’Gorman, both of DCU Business School. Brian Leavy is AIB Professor of Strategic Management and Academic Director of the Centre for Executive Programmes at DCU Business School. Prior to his academic career, he spent eight years as a manufacturing engineer with Digital Equipment Corporation, now part of Hewlett Packard.
Colm O’Gorman is Professor of Entrepreneurship at DCU Business School. Colm’s research interests include measuring the level of entrepreneurial activity in Ireland. He is co-author of the annual Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report for Ireland, which measures the extent and nature of entrepreneurship in Ireland.
