DIY Craze Takes A Step Forward In Washington

As Michelle Obama takes her basket to the Fresh Farm Markets, the world-wide DIY craze gains further momentum.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 02, 2009 – As the Do It Yourself phenomena sweeps the world, Michelle Obama was photographed at the Fresh Farm Markets, buying eggs, black kale, peppers, cherry tomatoes, pears, cheese, chocolate milk and other fresh farm products. The Fresh Farm Markets were recently opened, in the vicinity of the White House, inspite of the city authorities having to change a bus route for the occasion.

Perhaps it’s the recession-driven money shortage, that is behind the latest DIY craze, or maybe it’s the desire to once again get in touch with grass-roots, plus a personal pride of achievement, that has seen the rise of a group called ‘Foodies’ - people who have a preference for local produce and farm products.

Surging ahead of economic growth rates across the board, is the demand in the Do It Yourself sector in Europe. From a rush of passionate home decorators, to a change in lifestyle, DIYers are rising-up in every area.

Guidance about DIY decorating, remodeling and home improvement programs, to making your own beer, moonshine and wine, designing your holiday, to growing your own vegetables and running your own business, is booming. This is being fueled by the enormous pool of information that can be found on the Internet.

Age has no limit in the new generation of DIY’s whether it’s designing handmade books, making-over your old wardrobe, or designer jewelry. Still others yearn to make their own bread (wild yeast preferred) and jams, or cure their own bacon. Others simply want to renovate and be their own real-estate agents.

The social networks have added to the DIY phenomenon, as more and more people get the idea of helping themselves, as well as helping others, being dependent on self-reliance and taking advantage of the wide range of choice.

However, the new generation of DIYers demand high quality, usable information, so they can take greater personal control and responsibility. They want to solve their own problems rather than be at the mercy of notoriously unpredictable service providers. People are doing their own research in every area, rather than just blindly following the ‘doctor’s orders’.

People with the DIY spirit, are doing something positive about the inability of traditional institutions to meet their individual financial needs. They will no longer sit back and expect other people to give them hand outs, particularly when it comes to their retirement needs and financial security.

More and more people with the DIY spirit, are doing something positive about the inability of traditional institutions to meet their individual financial needs. No longer are they prepared to sit back and expect other people to hand it out to them, particularly when it comes to retirement needs and financial security.

By concentrating on what they can do, rather than just looking around for someone willing to do the job for them, they are taking personal control in all areas of their life.
Whether it be financial, personal satisfaction, or frustration with the status quo, DIY business is booming.
