Harmony Development Company is hosting a free green building education demonstration in addition to an Open House on Saturday, October 10, 2009 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. This family-friendly event will showcase the newest green homes and practices in the town of Harmony. The green homes are being built by David Weekley Homes, designed by Fugelberg Koch, and marketed/sold by Harmony Development Company. The model home, located at 3424 Schoolhouse Road, is the first in a series of homes currently under construction in Harmony. These homes are all Water Star®, Energy Star® and green certified (by the Florida Green Building Coalition). This trinity of environmentally intelligent building practices is a first in Central Florida.
The model home is the first official Water Star® certified home in Osceola County. Representatives from Toho Water Authority will be on hand to discuss the Water Star® program. Florida Water Star® is a certification program that encourages water efficiency in household appliances, plumbing fixtures, irrigation systems and landscapes. Florida Water Star® promotes the economic and environmental benefits of efficiency in new home construction by offering resources and incentives to builders and homebuyers who value water efficiency.
Other Open House activities will include a ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce (scheduled at 10am); Kay Green Design, the Interior Decorators, will be on-hand; food and drinks; a bounce house and face painter will be available for the kids; door and raffle prizes; and other surprises.
