One portion of the seminar will feature an interview by best-selling author Jim Henderson with two guests who are non-believers and two who are new to the Christian faith. Henderson is the author of Jim and Casper go to Church which chronicles the travels of a Christian and an atheist as they experience thirteen different churches throughout the US. These “outsider interviews” are one of many innovative steps which the seminar offers to help Christians become radically different in their evangelism and outreach to others.
Three churches in Springfield are co-sponsoring the seminar: Central Assembly of God, Second Baptist Church and Evangel Temple Christian Center. The cooperative efforts of these churches reflect a common struggle—effectively ministering to people in a rapidly changing culture.
Topics covered in the seminar include: They like Jesus but not the Church, The Cultural Context for Evangelism, Engaging Spiritual Seekers in Life-Changing Conversations, Busting the Pre-Evangelism Myth and “I Can’t” Evangelism.
Speakers for the Conversational Evangelism Conference include: Dan Kimball author of They Like Jesus but not the Church; Elisa Morgan former CEO of Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS); Gary Poole author of Three Habits of Highly Contagious Christians; Todd Hunter bishop-elect of the Anglican Mission in Americas; Randy Siever evangelism speaker and former Young Life staffer; and Jim Henderson author of Jim and Casper go to Church.
The two day seminar will include discussion, question and answer time and breakout sessions. Registrations have been received from Alabama and Indiana and participants from other states are expected. Registration is $89 for the two day event. More information is available at www.etchurch.org/
