Recession is a curse to an economy that gives birth to several repercussions like slow GDP growth, falling employment, low level of business expansion and much more. The global downturn of 2008 had a similar story to narrate where the world’s largest economy, the USA fell into a state of recession since December 2007. Compared with the 2.5 per cent growth in output in 2008, the World Bank projected an output by a mere 0.9 per cent in 2009 with bleak chances of recovery in the coming months. (source: http://sify.com/finance/fullstory.php?id=14819059). Since then, there have been innumerable initiatives taken by several government bodies as well as private organizations to radically revive the condition of the economy.

The Lansing Economic Development Corporation has been working for the past several years to promote economic development in Lansing, Mich. By successfully offering economic incentives for business development, LEDC has encouraged economic growth in the Capitol City.

The services offered by Lansing Economic Development Corporation include business development, recruitment and retention as well as the management of the Lansing Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (LBRA), the downtown Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA), all tax zones, the Lansing Regional SmartZone, and the management of all city incentives.

The Lansing Economic Development Corporation has helped growth in the Capitol City over several different sectors.  Over the last three years, about $600 million in private investment has lead to 77 projects and over 4,000 private jobs. From their Business Finance Assistance Program to incentives for arts and culture, the corporation emphasizes that there are many reasons to relocate to Lansing.
